Old Greenwich

Old Greenwich runs north from the coastline of Long Island Sound in the south.

Welcome to Old Greenwich

Old Greenwich is the further most eastern part of Greenwich, on the border with Stamford CT. Old Greenwich runs north from the coastline of Long Island Sound in the south, across route 1 and the I95, upto the north. The southern part of Old Greenwich between the coast and Old Greenwich station is often referred to by realtors as "south of the village". The main feature of Old Greenwich is Tods Point, which is a beautiful and large public beach for the town of Greenwich residents. As well as the beach, Tods Point also has a large park with stunning views across to Manhattan skyline, perfect for walking, biking or jogging and two concessions where you can eat or drink. If you live close enough to the beach in Old Greenwich, you can walk or bike to the beach, although families from all over Greenwich use the beach - wherever you live in Greenwich, you will use Tods Point beach! Tods Point beach is one of the gems of Greenwich and you can always know you will bump into friends at the beach on summer weekends, no matter where you live in Greenwich. Old Greenwich also has a cute main street with boutiques and restaurants as well as a station with trains to Grand Central.

Old Greenwich, particuarly the area south of the village, is known for it's "walkability", proximity to the beach and neighborhood feel. The elementary school is Old Greenwich Elementary school, located on the main street, opposite the shops and restaurants of OG. Many of the kids will walk or bike to school. The middle school is Eastern Middle School and the High school is Greenwich High School. Old Greenwich is also home to Binney Park, a small, but lovely park with public tennis courts and a playground. Binney Park plays host to outdoor cinema screenings from time to time as well as July 4 fireworks. Old Greenwich has become increasingly popular in the last 15 years and property is very popular here. Homes tend to be close together on smaller plots and there are several roads that have private beaches. As a general rule, the closer you get to the coastline, the more expensive the homes and the further you are from the coastline, the less expensive the homes. Therefore, north of route 1 in Old Greenwich, you tend to get more for your money than south of Route 1, although of course there are exceptions. Old Greenwich is bordered by Long Island Sound to the south, Stamford to the east, North Mianus to the north and Riverside to the west
